Believe
I received this article from a friend and thought I should share it with you. Often times people ask,” Courtney, why are you so successful?” The number one answer is that I believe in myself. I know that there isn’t anything I can’t accomplish.
I often have to be my biggest cheerleader. In order to be successful, people need to believe in themselves. Things are not always going to be easy, but as the little engine that could said, “I think I can; I think I can.”
If you go through life with the right attitude, you can accomplish anything. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, so many people die with their dreams unfulfilled, but what if you could start today knowing in your heart, mind and soul, that you can do anything?
What if you could actually achieve whatever you’ve been putting off for days, months and even years? No more excuses! Just put one foot in front of the other.
I’m going to ask you to read the article below, and then I’m going to give you an assignment. The choice is yours whether you do the assignment or not.
How badly do you want success, and what are you willing to do to achieve it?
“This I Believe,” by Denis Waitley (excerpt from Becoming an Authentic MVP Most Valuable Person)
Belief in yourself is the fundamental ingredient for success. No opinion is as crucial as the one you hold of yourself. No one is as critical of you as you are, although you may have grown up with lots of criticism by others.
Feeling worthy of the best is not the same as being egotistic. Big egos hide small, insecure people. When you talk to yourself, you should talk with all due respect.
Here’s what you want to say, every day:
I believe in myself. I believe that all people have the equal right to become all they are willing and able to become. I believe that I am as good as anyone in the world. Although I may never be on the cover of Time Magazine, I still have time to make a really positive difference in my life. I believe that although I may not be the best looking in the group, I’ll always be looking my best in every group. I believe in this and the next generation, and believe we’ll build a better nation. I believe good health means more than wealth. I believe in caring and sharing, rather than comparing. I believe of all the people I see, still I’d rather be me. |
This is the inner dialogue of an MVP, a most valuable person. And whenever you begin to doubt your own worthiness, because of what others say and do, remember to trust that face in your mirror and Look Inside.
When the prize seems high above you and your mirror doesn’t love you, Look Inside. When the road to gold gets steeper and your diamond’s buried deeper, Look Inside. Light a candle in your mind, untold riches you will find, When you’re running low on laughter and can’t reach the goals you’re after, Look Inside. When your body starts complaining and the clouds of doubt keep raining, Look Inside. |
Your assignment: Make a vision board. On that vision board I want you to put Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec. We have 3 and ½ months left in this year. What are you going to do with them?
Are you going to make the most with what you have? I want you to set 3 goals for yourself for each month that we have left to the year.
Then every day I want you to write down one positive thing about yourself.
Lastly, at the end of every day, reevaluate what you did. Did you live up to your expectations?
If not, then what can you do to change your current circumstance to get the results you’re looking for?
See, my friends sometimes when we lose sight of our goals and when things don’t go exactly as planned, we tend to throw in the towel all together. However, that is not what you should do. Now it’s time to reassess your vision, your goals and your destination.
You were designed for greatness, but without a plan on how to get there and without the proper steps of continually reminding yourself that you truly are a MVP that is when things start to lose site of the course you were following.
I only hope that you are open to the suggestions made here as this is what I have personally done to gain success in my own life.
I recently had a client who was in her 50’s who decided to go back to school and get a 4 year degree. When she finished school she became discouraged because she had no experience and was being turned down time and time again.
She came to me saying, “Who is going to hire me at the age of 54 with zero experience? After completing my training program, she learned how to speak great things about herself because she had become our own worst critic.
She came out of my program landing a position within a company that wasn’t even hiring. Hello! A 54 year old women with zero experience was hired at a company that wasn’t hiring, and they were willing to train her. That’s unheard of in this economy, but not when you have a goal and put the right skills to the test!
So, I don’t know where you are in your life. I don’t know what struggles you have, but I’d love for you to at least try what I’ve suggested here today. So that you can gain results like my client, Kelly, did.
My sense is that deep down inside you have goals, you have visions, you have dreams, but you may have buried them inside. So now I’m asking you to take out the magnifier, the telescope, and the flashlight and do some soul searching. Go back to the days of childlike faith because I know they are buried within waiting to be discovered.
When you find those hidden precious treasures inside, come back and share with me.
